Combiscan + - The cross cut solution

| Combiscan+ C – THE scanner for your cross cut optimization In the C version of the Combiscan+ Luxscan draws all its experience gathered in the area of cross cut optimization together into one single package. The variable software and hardware options within the scanner represent a piece of wood technology. Through the different sensor options the scanner can be matched to the needs of the customer, continually providing the optimal results. Regardless if it is soft or hardwood, window frames or gluelam, skirting or worktops, furniture making or shuttering this scanner you can always reach the optimal result.

YOUR ADVANTAGES
- High productivity from the automated defect recognition
- Reduction in personnel costs, as the labour intensive manual marking is replaced
- Increase in yield as the defect recognition of the scanner is far above that of manual marking
- Flexible production, as many different qualities and products can be produced at the same time
- Increase in quality of the end products
- Controlling the quality of the end products according to individual end customers
Modern scanner technology from the optimization specialists of the WEINIG GROUP. The deciding factor in a targeted optimization of the raw material is the optimal detection of the wood characteristics. The features of the individual wood characteristics are different in the way in which they are detected by the various sensors. The scanners modular sensor concept is derived from these factors. Here LUXSCAN can offer each customer a tailored solution. From the modular construction of the Combiscan+ different sensor technologies can be combined together. Machines can be produced according to the customer demands with the perfect sensor concept and at the same time offering value for money. The installed laser cameras provide recognition of standard characteristics on four sides. What is interesting here is the four-sided detection of three dimensional characteristics such as wane. Colour characteristics are captured and identified with a high definition colour camera. Not only is the detection of blue stain possible, but also an optimized sorting according to colour characteristics. For example, the lamellas for glulam panels can be classified and sorted before pressing. For characteristics exhibiting a difference in density an xray sensor is used. This provides, by “lighting up” the wood, a glimpse into the heart and classification of the density. Sensors for detecting shape differences, moisture and unmolded areas complete the picture along with the specialist mechanization concept. This provides the scanner, as an optional module, with automatically moving cameras for use in scanning random width boards. This allows for continued, three-dimensional characteristic detection on the edges, even on random widths. This technology is unique in its application. With the offered sensor concepts and the modular construction the Combiscan+ remains future-proof and adaptable to all new demands in the production.

Opticore – the new benchmark in the world of automated optimization Along with the sensors such as laser and colour cameras, xray and crook measurement etc. the software plays the most important part of cross cut optimization. Important here is simple operation, comfort and accuracy. The system should be simple to understand, intuitive to operate and reliable in availability and performance. The new Opticore software ticks all these boxes. The optical and operative side of the software is based on the OptiCom direct software from DIMTER means the operation of both machines is almost identical. In addition to this Opticore offers the tried and tested optimization structure which allows you to create productions as quickly and easily as you can produce.
Opticore is capable of handling an unlimited number of products and qualities. The simple description of qualities using different zones allows, on one side, for an increase in production and, on the other side, provides the customer the possibility to implement a larger range of diverse products. A more accurate description of the qualities allows production of more specific products. Along with the high accuracy in measurement of the different characteristics these bring about a much more efficient use of the raw materials. The different optimizing modes – optimizing according to value, yield or production targets – make scanning technology all the more interesting. This way production targets can be set which can all be completed at the same time. Production of orders with set piece lists also provides no problems. The shared software platform also provides a synergy effect in controlling the machines. This means even the status of the Opticut stackers during production can be taken into account during the optimization. This is just a further example of current WEINIG high-technology. With this you are always prepared for future developments and challenges.

Scanning and Optimisation – a simple view
Step 1: Scanning with a LUXSCAN scanner based on the variable sensor technology, eg laser cameras, colour cameras or xray. For each application we define the ideal sensors as well as their best combination, matched to the type of wood, surface quality and customer requirements. Our goal is to provide the best possible image quality for each individual application.
Step 2: The image processing – similar to a brain the highly developed software from LUXSCAN takes over. It recognizes and classifies defects as well as colour variations on the board.
Step 3: The optimization is controlled by the powerful Opticore software. It provides the best solution for cross cutting and takes into account various customer requirements and demands on the quality.
