Optimizing cross-cut saw OptiCut 450 FJ+: The through-feed saw specially for finger jointing applications
The OptiCut 450 FJ+ is specially designed for finger jointing applications. The model variant code FJ stands for Finger Jointing. This variant features a special feed system that safely transports even the shortest OK parts. Thus, at the end of the board, the machine still retains full control over short parts up to 110 mm, which are reliably transferred to the sorting system.
In order to obtain the required output even with the shortest lengths, the OptiCut 450 FJ+ features the smart VarioSpeed infeed and the intelligently controlled high-performance waste gate even in the standard version. Individually suspended overhead feed rollers with HighGrip rollers, specially designed for the type of wood, apply full pressure to the workpieces for accurate positioning. To ensure exact positioning, the workpieces are completely measured in length even before the first saw cut. An additional non-driven measuring wheel in the saw ensures maximum cutting accuracy.
In addition to optional software solutions to optimize your production, various mechanization solutions are available. An OptiCut is constructed according to a modular system, which means that you are also well equipped for the future. You can react quickly to changing market requirements by adding appropriate extensions. Connecting scanners, OptiCut Stackers (for automatic stacking of preferred lengths) and/or extending the system to create multiple cross-cut lines are no problem.

Technical Details
Specially developed machine concept for short parts
The specially developed machine concept of the OptiCut 450 FJ+ has 5 overhead and driven feed rollers, which have a smaller diameter compared to the OptiCut 450 series. This allows for a smaller distance between the feed rollers, which is why the high-performance cross-cut saw retains control over short parts up to a length of 110 mm even at the end of the board. Even under these conditions, the waste is separated from the OK parts in a safe and controlled manner. With finger jointing, this leads to an enormous increase in yield.
Maximum acceleration
The HighGrip feed rollers available for the OptiCut 450 Quantum have a special coating that provides more grip on the workpieces. These not only enable the high-performance cross-cut saw to position precisely, but also allow it to run at higher acceleration and deceleration rates. There are several variants to choose from, which can be selected according to the quality of the wood.
Increased profitability
The OptiCut offers enormous performance potential in every respect. To maximize this potential, the intelligently controlled VarioSpeed, among other things, reduces the spacing between consecutive workpieces as much as possible. The OptiCut thus provides a continuous supply or workpieces, so that the idle time of the machine is minimized. This increases the profitability and productivity of the system.
Reliability and safety as standard
The OptiCut offers the safest solutions for reliable and trouble-free production even in the standard version – with full capacity utilization of the saws. Machine components, such as the intelligently controlled waste gate, which is precisely harmonized with the performance of the cross-cut saw, ensure smooth production. With the help of the waste gate, the waste parts are reliably separated from the OK parts immediately after cutting, avoiding problems with sorting and further processing. The multi-stage system also allows longer waste parts to be directly discharged – avoiding additional stages that impact performance.
Secure workpiece guidance
From the marker table to sorting, the OptiCut guarantees continuous and secure workpiece guidance. For example, inside the cross-cut saw, a continuous fence ensures a clean and exact alignment and a right-angled cut of the workpieces.
